The 38th annual Pasadena Area CROP Hunger Walk benefits Friends In Deed – particularly the Pantry and the Bad Weather Shelter – along with other local agencies that work to prevent hunger and several international aid programs. This year the CROP Walk will begin at Flintridge Preparatory School in La Canada, and the walk will proceed along Foothill Boulevard in La Canada. Registration begins at 1:00 and the walk itself begins at 1:30. Food trucks, entertainment and information about local and worldwide hunger will be available. For more information call 626-797-2402 or check out the Pasadena CROP Hunger Walk website.
On August 6, Friends In Deed held its annual Back-To-School event. Thanks to the generosity of local churches, groups, and individuals we were able to provide backpacks and school supplies to over 150 children, ranging from Kindergarten age up through 8th Grade. There were smiles galore on the young faces as they selected the pre-filled backpack that most suited them. Then, before departing, our soon-to-be students were able to select some additional school supplies that lined our tables. Now, they were ready for that first day.
In light of the economic downturn, the City of Pasadena and Friends In Deed together are requesting that the business community rise up and lend their support to cover a $60,000 gap left the Bad Weather Shelter funding. We're looking for one hundred pledges of $600 to supplement the $50,000 provided by Friends In Deed through its own fundraising efforts.

We are truly Friends In Deed!!!
At our Annual Meeting on January 31, 2013 the Council voted to change the name of the organization to Friends In Deed with a subtitle Pasadena Area Interfaith Council. There will be a transition time during which we use the ECPAC website, email addresses, etc., but over the next few months will make the needed changes. Checks can still be written to ECPAC or Friends In Deed. We are excited about this change for it will help us with our branding, and will make clearer our status as an interfaith organization.
